Considering this '76 911...thoughts?

1976 911S For Sale in Georgia

I'm considering this 911 as a future purchase. It will replace my Boxster as the daily driver, but I'd supliment it with an old Subie down the road for foul weather. It looks pretty clean and appears to have a properly rebuilt motor in it. What are your thoughts on this car and on the '76 in general? I'd love to hear from 2.7 owners who use their cars daily (more or less).

Thanks so much for your help!

A friend had a '76 for quite a while, as his daily driver. Great car. Very dependable. Because of the bad reputation of the 2.7 cars, you can get a lot of car for the money.

I drove my '76 for years as a daily driver (weather permitting) with the stock 2.7 and it never once failed me. I've had my car for going on 12 years and it is still the best car I've ever owned.

My only complaint is total lack of any sort of decent ventilation. I have no AC and it gets "uncomfortable" here in Alabama in the summers.

Looks like a clean, well taken care of car with all the updates done.

I consider high heat and humidity "foul" weather, so I'll have the Subie for those days...

So do we think the $9500 is a fair price? Seems pretty good to me considering the rebuild and overall clean appearance?

Assuming it passes a PPI and looks as good in person as it does in the pictures I might pay $9500 for it. Keep in mind pictures hide all kinds of blemishes. Speaking of which, is it just the light or is the driver's side door repainted?

As an aside, I believe those cookie cutters are a stock color as shown here!

I've asked for more detailed photos and a good place for a PPI.

The cookie cutters are interesting, but they probably won't stay long. I'm thinking about a car I can backdate...this one appears to be strong mechanically and rust free, so I'd hope I wouldn't need to spend on anything more than general maintanence. So, theoretically I can afford to spend extra money on bodywork. Then interior work. THEN motor upgrades.

Of course, the FIRST thing I'd do is get that puppy down out of the sky!
