Avatar: how do you create and load one?
How do you create your own avatar? How about those animated ones? Some of those are well done!
|
Any image can be used as an avatar as long as the pixel dimensions do not exceed 50x50. There are a number of software programs that can be used to alter / create an image file of this size... Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, are two popular examples. There is a freeware program that many Pelicans use, unfortunately I can't remember the name (do a search and I'm sure you will find it). The files can be written as jpeg, bitmap or gif format (there may be others).
The animated avatars are animated gif files. In essence, an aimated GIF file contains a collection of images that are sequenced together, much like fanning a deck of cards. There are a number of freeware programs available off the net to create these. I use Unlead GIF Animator 5. Your personal avatar can be uploaded to Pelican via 'user cp' / 'edit options'... have fun |
They are lots of fun.

Kevin. Your last post almost caused me to do a "spit-take." Was that intentional, or just a funny coincidence? :D

Scott...that looked like a breast?? I could understand your confusion if you were married but a single guy like yourself!! Maybe your puttin in too many hours at the office. I'd post a real pic of a breast but I think that would get the attention of Z-man and then I'd really be in hot water here.

Just usin' my imagination, ol' friend. ;)

Oh great...like I needed to waste another 15 minutes of company time with that!!!;)
