clutch cable adjustment

I recently reinstalled my pedal cluster and rehooked the clutch cable. My question is, I'd like the clutch to start engaging close to the top of the depression of the pedal. Is there room for personal preference when adjusting or is there a pre determined spot that we all have to live with. I can't believe there is but what do I know... I hope my ignorance isn't to obvious but I'm not caring so much about that anymore these days...
Thanks

thanks,

25 mm +- 0.5 mm. If this travel is not within this range, then adjust the floor stop on the floorboards (Figure 24) to obtain this travel distance.
So does this mean there is very little choice about where the clutch engages or not?

I was hoping you could tell me, LOL. I have to do the cable and spring. I assume you can have the friction point at that distance from the top of the pedal travel, that allows the travel indicated in the Pelican tutorial, but no closer. How close to the top of the pedal travel that will be I'm not certain. Sooo... you have some control, but only to a point?

Thank you... I probably need a spring too. But I am choosing to stay in denial about it... just for today...

I think the answer to your original question depnds on how many adjustments are on the clutch itself for a '79. I know PAG kept adding more and more adjustments to the clutch end of the mechanism over time. There will be a way to do what you want somehow, but it might involve altering the pedal box or the 'stick' the pedal sits on...
