Carbs vs Megasquirt conversion benefits

OK
So I have been reading this forum and I am very thankful for all of your insight and help.
Here is my plan,
I am currently in the middle of restoring my 911. While I had alot of fun when it was together, I really want it to be perfect, well not perfect but at least astonishing like it should be. And one of the reasons that I got a 911 is because I have so much fun working on it.
Anyway enough of an introduction. This is something that I have been thinking about for a while. I want to install some revvier cams and up/back date the fuel system. I want to change my CIS (ugly, not the best technology) to either carbs or a DIY efi ala megasquirt.
But i am not able to make up my mind. I like the efi for the experience of 'building' my own fuel injection. However, nothing can be more beautiful than some triple throats.
So basically I would like some technical advice. Does one have a performance advantage over another primarily in terms of hp, cam choice (i want a pretty racy one), and throttle response?
Thank you all for your help

I'd go for the classic look of carbs. If you ever sell, it will be more familiar to potential buyers. Also, if you go back to stock, carbs are easily sold for little less than what you paid. Just my two cents.

BTW: If you can't get your car to run right with carbs and a hotter cam, it isn't the carbs or cam's fault. I have seen wonderfully performing 911s with carbs. I have witnessed a carbed 3.6 that would run like a scalded ape. If you can't set them up, just bite the bullet and bring them to a person that knows how. Nothing wrong with that. But don't blame it on the carbs.

I think one reason people have trouble with carbs is the fact that they slap on sloppy old things that actually needed more than just a basic rebuild...
