Hello. Need a little help with color identification.
First of all I want to say "Hello" to all users since this is my first post here. My name is Jacek I come from Poland and I own '77 911S which came to me few months ago from US :)
Down to business: My paint code id plate says: 117-9-1 I did some research at: http://www.911c1.de/porsche/Technik/farben/farbcode_gelb.htm http://paintscratch.com and both websites says that 117 is hell-gelb aka light-yellow I want to order some touch up paint from paintscratch.com but I'm little confused - they show color sample that is different than mine. I think. Here's the actual photo of my car. Little dark but should work. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1107608966.jpg Do you have any idea about my cars color? Could you show me any photos of porsches painted with 117 light yellow? Thanks for help! /Jacek |

Welcome to the forum
In my experience the color swatches they show at Paintscratch are not always true to the real color. I have never ordered from them but I suspect the actual product is correct. Also, at least here in the US, if you go to a paint store that carries auto paint they should be able to look up the formula for your color and mix a small batch for you on the spot. Love the color, BTW. Mine is in the shop right now getting a color change to a nice bright yellow very similar to Ferrari Fly Yellow. |
Jacek,
Welcome, I think you will find this board most helpful. I have the color codes from Glasurt 1970 they might help. |

Jacek welcome!
I would not order from paintscratch, some people have gotten the wrong color. You need to go to a paint supplier like PPG or Glasurit in your area and have them sample your color with their machine to get you a color match. This will give you a true match to your car, because all paint fades a little over the years. Cheers, Jason |
Thanks everyone!
Creaturecat, Imcarthur - thanks for the photos - i think this is exactly the same color that my car has. http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/clap.gif Drdogface - the differences between scratchpaint sample and the real color might be caused by my crappy monitor I think.. I just want to order this "Paint Pens" that paintscratch make to get rid of little scratches on my car. I don't think that any paint store here in PL makes it. Limble - this is the color formula I presume? Might be useful in future. Thanks. Once again, thank you for your help. /Jacek |

Stay clear of paintscratch. I ordered paint for my car, ( Ice Green Metallic). It looked green when sprayed but dried siver. I was told that is the proper shade. I sent a headlight ring that had to get a match. After paying for the extra match work it was still wrong. Stay local you'll have better luck.
