Can anyone identify this speedometer ?

I was going through my boxes of porsche gauges and found this odd one . It max`s out at 140mph and has a different look . Its exactely the same dimentions as the 911 speedo and also has the odo reset cable . The gauge was marked on the tag as a 1967 targa 911 . Also the gauge face is plastic instead of glass . Is this a factory porsche gauge ? I dont think its VW because of the diameter(too small) and the trip odo reset cable . Does anyone recognize this . I put some others(mixed years) next to it for comparison .

I would say that it almost certainly isn't a Porsche speedo - well not a Factory-fitted one anyway.

Lots of other german manufacturers used Vdo gauges too.

It definitely isn't a '67 Porsche production gauge at all ... because of the white-on-black lettering! The production backside details are also different from the other four Porsche gauges ... which all appear identical, even though one is a 914-4 gauge supplied to VW! Does it have a Porsche part number inside the bezel at the top?

My best SWAG is that it isn't a Porsche/VW gauge at all ... or that it is an aftermarket VDO gauge for retrofitting 911/912/914 models for rallying! The bezel doesn't look right, and the numbers are a bit too big ... which would be OK for rallying in my book, but some might question the esthetics of mismatched numbering/lettering compared to the other gauges!

Looking at the needle, 60's BMW perhaps 2002tii or other high performance model??

I looked at my '73 2002tii and that was fairly different, not sure about an earlier one though. not to hijack you tread but....I have an early (69-73) looking speedo that reads to 180 mph (the 180 line is at the 6 oclock position) have you ever seen one of these or know to what it belongs to originally??

The speedo is a universal VDO available in the 60's & early 70's. I have a vintage VDO catalog the has that whole series in it. It predated the standard black/ white generic guages that have been available ever since.
