license plate lights

My lights on the rear license plate have stopped working. I have checked the fuse, the bulbs and connections and all seems well. The only thing left is the ground. The Bentley book only says ground in engine compartment...but where? Any help here would be appreciated.

Check under your hinge on the drivers side. There should be a ground strap there (between the hinge and the deck lid)

Lightbulb

Just a thought. Have you had any transmission work done receintly? There is a connector for the lic. lights high up on the passenger side of the trans. Hard to get to. May have been left disconnected.

No luck there. Thanks anyway. I may just live with it and hope the cops don't use this as an excuse to pull me over...

I made the mistake (?) of cleaning the underside of the engine with a hose recently (see other post on oil leak) and sounds like I may have knocked off the connector perhaps. I will have to check that, but you mentioned it's difficult to get to. Can it be felt blindly and reconnected if loose?

Talking tag light problems

Hi..I had the same problem. It was the ground wires on the driver side wheelwell. When I removed the lights and jiggled them they worked. I traced it to the wiring as it runs behind the rear bumber and up the driver rear wheelwell. No problems fixed
