Rear shocks............

Have a 75 911S. Do I have to do anything special to take off the rear shocks? Can I just jack up the wheel and unbolt it? Is the shock under stres when the wheel is unbolted? I dont wanna kill myself or anything.............

A nut and a bolt, Nothing special to it.

But I wouldn't set my head under the rotor when you take that last bolt off.

I put a jack under the rear shock to release the pressure on it when I removed the top nut on the shock. Remember to use two wrenches on the top of the shock. Put copper anti-seize on the lower bolts when you put them back on. I replaced my bolts and nuts when I replaced my rear shocks last summer.

Replaced your nuts? What does that have to do with it? Also, I was so looking forward to placing my head under the rotor while I unbolted the shock. Darn!

LOL, OK, thanks for the help guys! Just poking a little fun..............

Depending on the miles you might want to replace your struts also. I just replaced my Boge Struts and it was unbelievably simple. The biggest problem was compressing the new Bilsteins to fit into the hole in the camber plate. The old boges had no resistance and were well past their expiration date.

Hey Kelly: I have #1073...Grand Prix White...Targa....VERY happy with it...feels lighter & more spunky then the two SC's I've had. I bought the book "101 Projects for your 911"....it's full of great stuff for us do-it-yourselfers...including how to change your rear shocks (or your front struts if you desire)...check it out, it's worth the $ because it will pay for itself the first time you use it, instead of a $100/hour mechanic.......
