Brake System Reset
 

When I rebuilt the car I noticed that someone had disconnected the two wires that were on the master cylinder so I reconnected them. I just got the car back on the road and now I have a blinking e-brake light that won't go out.

I Just went under the car and removed the skid plate but I can't find any little stem under a rubber boot to reset. Can I assume that if I replace the switch that the two wires are connected to, it should solve the problem?

I just went looking and noticed that Pelican shows 2 warning switches for the 74 master cylinder. I only have one. What's up with that? Could I have an incorrect master cylinder?

The pic [diagram] is incorrect ... that is a power-boosted master cylinder for '77 models and later, and yours isn't boosted.

I had this issue with my car after doing a replacement of the brake fluid.

After mucking around trying to find reset switches etc, I eventually fixed it by disconnecting the battery and then re-connecting it! (Note mine was non-boosted too)

I second this. The system should be resettable by disconnecting the battery. No reset switches on my SC either.

I agree with Zeke. On a 74-76 911 the reset switch is where he said it is, assuming that your master cylinder is still stock. It is, indeed, hard to see and access. But it's there. Try pushing with a wooden dowl, or a long, skinny finger.

Yes, I did the brakes on my 1975 911 with new master cylinder. There is a little white miple that needs to be pushed in to reset. Look close it is there.

I'll look again guys but I have a hunch that the M/C is not a stock one.

If it is, then I did it right. If it's not, I'm off to grab a couple of lottery tickets...

I'm telling ya, disconnect and reconnect the battery. Its alot easier and it works. I have not had any trouble since using this method.

I tried that Sheldon, didn't work. I think I have a bad sensor switch.

The red arrow is pointing to the correct place. OK, you pushed it in, but you're not done yet. The old m/c had 2 spade terminals on the switch and now you only have one. However, you still have 2 wires going down there.

Oh, my, what do you do???

Using a testor and with the ignition on, find which one is hot. Connect to the single terminal. Make up a short wire with a female spade connector on one end and a ring connector on the other. Attach to m/c or body as a ground. Or, just strip the wire that is not hot and ground it.
