930 wheel spacers

I bought a set of 1.5" (37mm) spacers for the front wheels. When trying to install them (after removing the original 22mm spacers) the studs ran out of threads before the flange of the spacer made contact with the hub. Called the vendor and he is telling me that the problem is that I have to install the new spacer in addition to the original ones (22mm). If that's the case I need a 15mm spacer to make the 37mm I need. Is that correct? I thought that we should not stack spacers.

Stacking is OK....as long as you have long enough studs to pass thru them all including the wheel and STILL have enough for the nuts....
