Ignition switch of early 911 gone bad
Hi all,
A couple of days ago my 66 911 wouldn't get any current when turning on the ignition switch. All lights that are supposed to light up were not, the fuel pump didn't work and starting wasn't possible. My wrench suggested that the ignition switch was faulty, probably because of corrosion, and he seems to be correct, for I've been able to get the car going after some fumbling witch the connectors at the switch (felt like I was stealing my own car ![]() Since these early ignition switches are no longer available new, and trying to locate a good used one might take quite a while, I would like to know if it's possible to fix the switch myself, including the internals. Is this possible with an early switch? I haven't taken out the switch yet, but it looks pretty much closed up solidly.

pull the electrical contacts out, sand lightly and reassemble. I've revived many electical parts this way......

I've put a push button - momentary contact type - switch on some before, kind of like those on a boat, when all else failed.
