Fuel Tank Seal

Hi Gang,

I've got the tank out of my 911 and I'm cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping, cleaning and prepping...

I'm looking at the fuel pump seal on this site and it looks like only 1/2 a seal. My old seal went all the way around the tank. And... it's $25.00 for what looks like a stout piece of weatherstripping.

Anyone used this seal? Anyone used anything different when replacing this seal?

Not opposed to spending the dough but... if there's something better for less

Thanks in advance,

E.

Fuel Tank Seal

Eric:
Some on the board have commented they have simply gone to Home Depot, or an equivalent, and bought a roll of the foam weather seal with adhesive on one side. It's cheap & they say seems to work just as well.

I replaced mine and would recommend the Home Depot route. The replacement seal I got was nothing special.

My shop is a well respeted Porsche wrench, who I will not name. Uses home depot. I matched it against a new original and could not see any difference.

Bought mine from my FLAPS. 10 foot long, 1/4" thick, 3/4" wide foam with one side sticky. Used a little under nine feet of the stuff. Worked great and looks good.
