I hate car electrics!!! Speedo failiue
It was all going so well. Just bought an '82 SC Targa and finished off the essential repairs and it was time to tidy up inside. The clock wasn't working and I wanted to change the bezels on the guages.
First up I popped the clock out and tried to fix it (no joy) but when I put it back in to test it I believe I got the wires the wrong way round first time. Clock still doesn't work. Next up I popped all the guages and changed the bezels and started to re-install them. Everything went well until I got to the speedo. According to my notes I made when I removed the speedo the blk/red wire was on the second terminal down (marked A not +). All the other connections seem fine but as soon as I connect the red/blk wire the speedo shoots to 160mph and nothing I have tried seems to fix it. It was working fine before I removed it. Please any help??? I have searched through all the old posts but it not been much help. Thanks |

According to the Bentley repair manual for the 84-89 years, red/blk to the "+" terminal and wht/red to the "A" terminal.

Thanks,
Does it say what the white and red wire is for as I don't seem to have a white and red wire!! Also, can anyone explain to me how the Speedo actually works so I can try to fault find this problem. I really hope I don't need a new Speedo!! Thanks again |
