Frt Spoiler oil cooler mount parts ?

I have a 78SC with a trombone "cooler" and will be puting in a front spoiler mount oil cooler.

I have a setrab 172 cooler ( 22x8x6x2) that I sourced locally.
How does anyone with this cooler mount to car - does anyone have a kit? I cannot cut the car - PCA racing rules.

What about the oil lines that run from the hard lines ( supply & return) in the fender to the oil cooler itself? I probably will be using a "Bigmouth" fitting for the cooler - Elephant Racing.

Alot of guys have this setup, does anyone know of kits etc? I really don't want to fab something myself! Not a mech.

Thanks

Earl

I put the same setrab 172 cooler/ front spoiler on last year w/ the Elelepaant Racing kit. Chuck will give you good information. I mounted the cooler behind the spoiler high enough so mounting all 4 tabs wasn't too difficult and for more protection from road debry. The bumper had to be notched though.

The car always runs cool and the front end feels planted at higher speeds. It's a great combo.

The 172 is both tall and wide so you may have to notch yor bumper also. This shouln't cause any conflict w/ the PCA but, you may want to ask.

here is a Setrab cooler...
I just made some L shaped brackets, bolted them to the cooler and the front panel. 30 minute job. If your going to run the same oil lines, you just have to run you new lines to meet where the old ones come apart under the right fender. You will have to get the metric to AN adapters.

That Setrab fits in a short hood chassis? Nice if it does. I found limited space within my RS front bumper. I have an Earls #25012 cooler (7x15.5") that barely made it, but it does the job. Whose front bumper are you using?

Here is how I did mine. Elephant Racing will have all the parts you need.

Here's my original post from my setrab install. It may be considered crude by some but, the "L" brackets I used were sourced from the garage door section of the hardware store. They were strong and allowed adjustability. When intalling with a stock bumper, there is not much room so the adjustability was a plus.

You will love the cooler temps

Wow, thanks everyone.

Esp for the pics. I am starting to understand the needs of the project, I think.

If I may, a few questions.

How difficult is it to make the oil lines. Since it will be a track, i think i would want the braided style. Something better left to pro?

Also, we size OD and IO are these oil lines?

I am going to start looking around for brackets- hardeware stores, etc. Again , since it is track I am looking for some heavier type.

I particulary like the brackets 84toy used. What is the source or did you fab them?

Thanks soo much!!!

Earl
