daytime running lights on a 964

Hello! can anyone tell me what's involved in installing whatever gizmo is required to get daytime running lights on a 964? I just bought an american car and canadian regulaitions require them...go figure! Thaks,

Fred C.

I believe all the 964's are wired for the "daytime running lights", but are missing the relay in the front fuse box. (Actually, the day time running lights turn on the front fog lights, not the headlights)

Not sure what year your 964 is but it may be wired for the DRL's and you may just need to install the "module" or relay to activate them.

I doubt they run the fogs though - most likely low beams at reduced power. I could be wrong though.

If you do not have the above adding is pretty easy.

A DRL module can be had at any GM dealership. Just ask for a generic DRL module. It is much better than the cheap plastic ones out there. This one is encased in aluminum and is the size of a pack of cigarettes.

Instructions included and the wiring is right there at the fuse box in the trunk. Install should take you about 30 minutes.

I have these installed on all my cars that do not have DRL's from the factory including my 911.

What year is the car? 90 and newer 964's are wired for the DRL's using the fog lights....... You just need the relay.

Thanks guys, it's a 91 so I assume it will have the plug for the relay...where would I find the plug? Does anyone have a spare relay kicking around? Thanks, Fred C.

You need a relay # 431.951.253.G which goes in the front fuse panel, relay socket # R63. (there is lots of info about this on the rennlist forum for the 964)
