H4 install question

I have a new set of H4's and I am trying to install them on my '86 930. I have read all the archives etc...
Is there a trick to getting them on. I know you start at the top and "hang" the light on the tab. Should the rest of the light just snap into place? Do you need to push it into place in a CW or CCW direction? How much force is needed to get it on? I don't want to break anything and I am having trouble getting the whole light seated. I did it without the seal and it was a real tight fit.
Tips or suggestions?
Thanks

You should be able to hang the top on the lip and the bottom should fall right where it needs to be. You may have to push it in a bit, but should not have to rotate it. At least that's how easy mine were to install. There is a retaining screw in the bottom of the trim ring.

IIRC, there is particular orientation to that rubber gasket too

Be sure it is new, or acts like it's new...

Use big zip ties to secure the back of the headlight in the well so it won't pop out while cornering or braking - pics on a thread if you search.

Doug,

I purchased a 70 S Targa earlier this year. On my first run the right front H4 head light fell off. H4's have two adjuster screws unlike the four on the conventional assembly that screw into the four tabs in the fender socket. What I found was the lower left adjuster was threaded into the corresponding tab. This interfered with the adjustment and actually held the assembly in place instead of the outside ring. The screw sheared off. What I ended up doing on the new H4 was removing the two corresponding tabs which now allows independent adjustment. Next I aligned and started the screw on the ring enough to prevent cross threading than pushed the assembly up and popped over the fender tab. Last tightened the screw(Don't forget the parking light bulbs)
