G-50 help, or maybe not!

I found this spring in a box that had all my transmission nuts/bolts in it from the P/O and am not sure where it goes, or even if it goes in my trans. Its a '95 G-50.
Someone suggested it may go on the clutch release lever?? I dont see a place for it anywhere, or see it listed in the parts book. Anyone??

It looks like a fairly common return spring that you will find in drum brakes.
