Actually, I cannot claim to have never lived in Calif. I lived in SFO for about 4 months temporarily while I was moving around from Eugene to Portland and back... only 4 months in Portland too.

Just take the warning for what its worth - I would rather see them nab Camaro drivers than 911 drivers... OTOH, the smog problem is really bad. Visit the channel islands sometime then turn around and look back towards shore... (and the coast line is the clean part of the state....)

Here in Oregon the rain washes the pollution down into the river where it belongs (so it can harm our fish and swimming children).

Warning heeded. I will look out for them. Actually, I wouldn't doubt some double-dealing here in So. Cal with all the freeway cameras.
