Got my Steve Wong chip in
When I bought my car it had a RUF pre-muffler and muffler, no Oxygen sensor and and unknown performance chip. The idle was very rough and part throttle performance was not great. Steve was very helpful, and sent me a chip designed to work without the oxygen sensor and with the factory rev limit (I have read too much about the 3.2 rod bolt failures). Until I get it out on the track I won't really know if it increased horsepower, but the driveability improvement has been huge. The car idles better, and is much smoother with better pickup at low speeds. Hopefully the mileage will improve, it was a pretty poor 17.5 mpg with mild driving before. It is great to have someone like Steve who can tune the chip to match your particular car and is a pleasure to deal with.

Rick,
There have been many that have experienced a nice increase in driveability by adding the SteveW chip. Glad to hear it has worked well for you. Regards, |
Ditto, I really like the difference in chip performance. I went from a Weltmeister to Steve Wong and it was very noticeably better.
|
Soon someone who shall remain nameless may be telling you the improvement is all in your mind. I have the same delusion.

waiting... waiting...

Who would that be? :-)
Will be getting my SW chip in about a month or so... |
Mine is on a UPS truck headed my way.

here fishy, fishy, fishy...

I can understand skepticism about judging a horsepower gain using the butt dyno. However driveability, and smoothness of idle are pretty easy to detect just driving around town.

Rick: Have "we" met you? We have periodic Pelican get-togethers in DFW. We were going to have a drive today, but postponed for the rain.
|
No, we haven't met yet Ed. I have only had the car since November. I have been meaning to come out to one of your get togethers. The first Porsche event I am attending will be the PCA DE @ Motorsports Ranch at the end of this month, will you be there? Let me know and I will come find you.
Regards, rickdm |
"He" must be out at supper.

Just remember to ask anyone who bashes the SW Chip this one question: "Do you sell or have you ever sold chips for Porsches?" If they won't give you a straight answer then write off anything else they say.

Today has just been a great day in Dallas, and I had the chance to get the car out on the open road and take it to redline a few times and all I can say is Wow.Tha chip has transformed the car. It was till pulling hard when I hit the rev limiter, which caught me completely by surprise. The car is just a lot more fun to drive. I put my brake cooling ducts in and I am now ready for my first DE in a couple of weeks. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.

Rick:
I am going to be at the DE. I've had my car apart for a couple of weeks putting a rollbar and harnesses in. Red Targa, #63. Describe your car. You're right, Sunday was an awesome day. I too went for a drive and loved every minute of it as it'd been a while since I'd driven her. |
Rich, Randy, thanks for the feedback and reviews. Let us know how your DE turns out. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1108395921.gif

Ed, I have a black '87 with a tail. It used to belong to Randy Grasso so you may have seen it out there before. I will have 357 for my number. I saw a picture of your car on a previous post and I think you will be a lot easier to spot than I will. I will come by to say hello. I sure hope we have a weekend like Sunday.
