TARGA TARGA TARGA TARGA TARGA TARGA......
that stands for...'67 912, '71 T, '72 T, '75 S, '78 SC, '82 SC !!! no doubts about MY favorite 900 series body style ......only "coupe" I own is a 912E...at least it has a sunroof, they didn't make 912E TARGA's    |
Paid $10.5 last November, 153k, original owner, tools, documentation, usual stone chips, zero rust, always garaged, interior good, nice stereo (would have preferred original). I am sorting it out as we speak, cannot wait until the weather breaks to really go to town. Oh, yea, will more than likely get the top rebuilt, as one of the front pins has stripped and the noise at plus 50 is ungodly. But I don't care, I am in love and more so every day. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1108830773.jpg

I've always preferred a Targa over a coupe and a cab. The design is so original; nothing like it.

What color is that, Rick?

JFW eight thirtyfour.....Been there.....done that....Piuma or Saddle Peak Rds., looking north, Agoura/Westlake to the left, West Hills/S.F. Valley to the right, Santa Suzanna Mts. in the distance, To-banga-wanga & Malibu Canyon's down below, Santa Monica Mountains under your tires....
I may not live down there anymore BUT I retain LOTS of fond memories of some REALLY GREAT ROADS !!! So. Calif. 1960-1995 OR should I say, Porsche's #1 thru 14 ..... "I've been to Kanan (Dume), and I wanna' go back again..." as I said above...TARGA TARGA TARGA TARGA TARGA TARGA.... |

Even when it's only 15 out, and with the top on, it's still fun to drive:)

Do you care more about seeing, or being seen? Yes- most would agree the coupe has cleaner lines. However, no coupe driver (me included) can experience the joys of top off motoring like those targa owners. My best friend has a targa. He likes the look of my car more (coupe obviously), but he likes driving his car more. I would have to agree. On a warm summer's evening, it's hard to beat a targa. And when it comes right down to it-it's still a wondeful 911 no matter what the configuration. All great cars imo.

I love my Targa!
On Wednesday this week, I drove to work and back with the top off. I sure hate these bitter North Carolina winters... :D |
targa top
Didn't someone put a targa type top on a coupe? or didn't someone already ask this?
I have seen the targa turned into a cab. |
Some newbie targa observations....sold the 97 boxster and bought my first 911...a 84 targa on 2/19/05
Fun to drive, has some guts....still trying to figure out where everything is...... Overall a very neat car to drive......Looking forward to some dry weather to give it a real road test..... Where else can you get such quality engineering for less than $10K...... Chris http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1109036973.jpg |
chgrec: under $10K for your 84? That sounds like a pretty darn good deal! Do tell of any upgrades and condition - I paid $6K for my ROW 77 with 93K on her and thought I was doin it - you got my shortys on that one - nice look'n car!

it has 183k but has been well cared for ....i was given every reciept (a stack 2 inches high) and even the original window sticker.....The carpet needs help and the driver seat back is not great....but thanks to this board, i found a full interior for sale and it should be here by the weekend...
and thanks.....i look forward to many days of fun driving |
