Ferris Bueller car home movie...

This is off topic, but hey, we are all car guys right? My very young bro in law is a aspiring movie producer and film student. He put together a home video of one of my cars. It was used in the movie Ferris bueller's day off. It is a replica of a Ferrari 250gt California Spyder. 4 Were made for the movie. This is one. One was merely a shell on a mgb chassis that was driven backwards out a window. The video has soind clips spliced in from the movie to make for a funny presentation. It is a bit long and a little boring, but some of you might find it interesting. If these videos are distracting to this board, lert me know and ill refrain...anyway...

Ford power 425hp,connolly leather interior, coil overs...cobra style...crude car by Porsche owner standards, but looks awesome and fun!
unfortunately, the format will not let you fast forward...sorry
It is a home server, so if you cannot get on...try again later..

Nice car. I loved that movie. The ford motor sounds real strong, Must have gear drive instead of chain. That whine is hard to miss. I'd build something like that LONG before considering a Cobra. They are getting to be like corvettes anymore. Who built the car and how did you get ahold of her?

chased the car down for a year or so until the wealthy owner needed to make room. It was make by a company in the mid 80's called Modena. They are not in business any longer. A company called calspyder bought the molds and until recently was putting them together at a high cost. The build quality is high (for a replica). It is a tube steel chassis designed by a formula race engineer. A nuts and bolts car..sort of like driving a mid 70's vette convt. big block (with a few less rattles). Not that you can hear the rattles over the engine. The whine was actually a mechanical problem that was corrected. But, it was really annoying. You didn't actually hear it inside the car, but was very pronounced when in front of it. The car scares the crap out of my 3 year old when i start it...really obnoxious.

I like it, alot nice than any ordinary kit that's for sure. 99% of the public would never know it isn't the real thing.

I was at the Barrett Jackson auction in Newport Beach in 1992 and they had one of the Ferris Bueller Ferraris.

It looked like a lot of fun. I think it went for in the 30s or so?

actually, a guy in a 360 Modena chased me down on the road. When he pulled up along side me he asked me if i was nuts putting this car on the road (if real it is a seven figure car). When I told him it was not real he just shook his head and drove off...nnot sure to this day if he was disgusted or shocked. Most people know it as the ferris bueller car...and ask if i put it back together after it went out the window
