My 2.8 got carbs when in was built in the '70s. Now 30 years later it's getting converted back to MFI. Started with a 2.4S pump and 2.2 throttle bodies and stacks. All was refurbished and the pump rebuilt to 2.8 high compression spec. Finished the engine work this evening, except for some engine tin and an oil line.

Wow! Great sleeper motor. With the exception of mag stacks its going to look like a stock 2.4T motor :D. Nice work!

Do you have access to the good gas there, or do you have to blend race fuel to get away with the single plug ignition?

I always have some 110 on hand - as an additive.

You said the pump was rebuilt. Did you get the stacks and throttle bodies modified too? Also, I am curious about the jetting in the carbs you took off.

Greg, with Grady as Chief project consultant, how can you go wrong? Looks great, can't wait to see pics of the finished car. Hmmm, this kind of reminds me of a certain "Mad Doctor" car Grady created back in the 70's. :D

Well, we're staying true to the original plan. Obvious isn't the "correct" MFI setup for a 72. But, it has a proper yellow shroud and I'll stick to the chrome wheels.

Let’s see, would that be Dr. Swarsen, Dr. Jackson, Dr. Porter, Dr. Philpot, or the many, many more? On Wednesdays you could hold a medical convention at the Rennenhaus parts counter. BTW, I saw Bill & Lynn at the 3R PCA meeting last month.

I think Ron ordered the 911T with the painted wheels and then decided on chrome. I think the dealer may have swapped them off a new ’72 911E as 6x15 are only listed as OE wheels there. They would have had a hard time selling an “E” with steel wheels – they all got Fuchs. Very rare 6x15 steel.
Greg, do you have a build sheet for the “T”?
You have a “matching numbers” three owner, rust free, never damaged, really nice 911 with HISTORY.

Looking in the ’72-’73 parts manual:
Painted steel wheel 6Jx15 911.361.021.00
I bought hundreds of these for customer’s DE tires.
It doesn’t even list the chrome version as a spare part.

Grady, is it true? Frank Barrett told me not to worry if I got hurt @ Woody Creek. There would be several MD's surrounding the injured. Of course, they'd spend 45 minutes or so discussing the best procedure...;) Ahhh, the glory days! I'll never forget the ride you gave me in Ron's car...and here we are, 3 decades later, discussing the SAME car with it's owner. It blows me away...Greg, you're going to love the MFI throttle response.

Only 11 years or so late on seeing this. Indeed this is "my" old engine 2.4T block improved to 2.8S by Grady's engine man - trying to remember his name, escapes me ? George ?. The car originally purchased in Oakland CA, had seats swapped out for prior years 1971 seats and had chrome steel wheels. Recall first improvement was sway bars - ran Georgetown Hillclimb and placed in my first "race." MFI to carbs and back again! Car has had only three owners. Plates had RS911T on them but was sleeper for sure and still is I'm guessing. Had a dinged rear bumper right side once (girl friend rear-ended at stop light) and left front bumper from going over tires at an autocross once under my guidance - but heard it had a few off track excursions with second owner and may have gotten into puckerbrush once too many times....cannot confirm. Great times in this car - lots of local autocross, time trial places. Fun times - lately own 1985 Guards Red Carerra with 44k original miles on it and flew up the hills over the pass this last weekend on a gorgeous day, but spent 20+ years between Porsches. Good to see it is in good hands.... I owned this from 1972 till 1985.

We spoke long ago. Today I logged into Pelican Parts for the 1st time since May 16, 2012 and learned Grady passed while I was away. Hell of a Monday :-(

I'd still like to see those photos. I did find the car in one of the Woody Creek photos you posted in Grady's thread. Below is another I believe Ron or Grady sent me. Hope to hear from you, soon!
