Rollbar:check, Harnesses:check...Track, here I come!
It started as a desire to install harnesses for DE's. I didn't like the offering of harness bars for Targas, so I started looking at Rollbars. I liked the DAS bolt-in, but I won't work with my height. It escalated when I found a Autopower full cage at a clearance sale.
After installing it, I decided I didn't like the clearance of my head against the top bars WITH MY HELMET ON. So, out it came as my wife shook her head. I cut off the "arms" from the main hoop that ties together to the front hoop (after powdercoating:( ), and commenced to put it back in as a rollbar only. I ended up doing a back deck panel delete and carpeted the rest of the rear ala RS. I had to bolt on a cross tube to mount the shoulder straps to as I didn't like the stock cross tube height (too low). At any rate, I got her done... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1108323177.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1108323212.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1108323338.jpg |
black electrical tape...its the new powdercoating ;)
does your helmet stick above the targa bar? Maybe time to lower your seat mounts....its fun! |
Yeah, I was pretty proud of my engineering solution to cover the girnd marks into the new powder coating.
My helmet is good with regard to the roof and all, but the upper front to rear bars of the cage were a good 2-3" lower than the interior height of the Targa bar. When I put SFI padding on, my helmet was only 1/2" away. |
Ed, can you show me a pick of where and how your lap belts mount the the car please?
Thanks, Jeff |
Ruby just gets better and better!

Jeff: I bought the Brey-Krause mounts. They mount at the stock belt mounts. I've got spring-loaded clips on the ends of the lap harnesses. Quick in and out, and I got the stock belts for the street. They're kind of pricey, but they work nicely.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1108341685.jpg

Caution:
It is NOT a slippery slope. It is a cliff....... |
Put cotter pins in the holes on the snap in ends, that is what they are there for.

Thanks Ed, does the center one mount to the factory spots as well, I can't tell. Thanks so much, the install looks great!
Jeff |
Jeff: Yes, they do. BTW, Brey provides all of the hardware in the kits.
Tom: THANKS! |
Did you cut the fullcage to just a hoop?
|
Eric: The front portion bolted to the main hoop, so I cut the mounts off and went with the basic unit.
|
Ed thanks again.
