SC mirror change over switch
I was wondering if the mirror change over switch could be used as a manual switch for a fender mounted oil cooler fan. I have Ruf mirrors on the car so I am not using the switch for anything now. I noticed it has three wires, blk/yel, lt blue, and lt green attached to the switch but I did not check if any of the wires are powered. Are any of the wires powered? Thanks.

One would assume at least one of them would have to be. Power in, then lines leading to each side mirror. Just test them with your test light to determine which is which.

I checked all three wires for power with and without the key on. No power at any time.

Depending on the circuit diagram, the selector switch would only have power while actually trying to adjust the mirror via the mirror adjust "joy stick".

If no voltage is present, check for continuity to ground. Dan's description is one way to do it by wiring the joystick to the +12 half of the circuit and the L/R selector runs the other half to ground. That would be consistent with your 3 wires attached to an SPDT switch.

Thanks. I will check that out.
