Where to find flex brake ducting?
My 911 came with a brake cooling kit that had the flexible cloth and wire ducts all ripped up. These are about 1-1/4" diameter. I looked at Home Depot and all I could come up with was the mylar and foil type which you use for clothes dryers. I put that in as a temporary substitute, but I don't think it will hold up. Any suggestions on where to find the heavier cloth type ducts?

This is the place to get the ducting that I used......difficult to find a place....you want CAT or SCAT tubing.....only difference bewtween the 2 is temperature range of each can withstand. Good luck |
Temperature! I didn't think about that. How hot is that brake duct going to get? I have a vision of my Mylar brake ducts catching on fire
Fredmeister, have you ordered form this site before? How much do I get? It just says 'order", with no quantities. How much 3" tubing will $5.80 get me? Thanks, rickdm |
Almost everyone that sells SCAT, SEET or CAT ducting sells in 11' sections or 100' rolls.

Thanks, I just ordered two of a couple of different sizes just in case. Ever since I got the Porsche I have sure been ordering stuff from odd places.

You need to determine the diameter tubing you willneed and then the $5.80 is price per foot......unfortuantely they may only sell it to you in 11 foot increments.......determine length you need by measuring before ordering as well.
Good luck......I think CAT tubing should be fine for you.......good to 350 degrees or so I think.....the tubing should not be getting that hot or you have problems. |
still, that's way cheaper than other sources I have seen for "brake ducting hose"
|
You might also want to try this place, they have different types of hoses and stuff

I used 3" flexable aluminum dryer vent duct from Home Depot.

It is a Porsche man, aluminum dryer vent ducting just seems wrong.....
-----just kidding Dantilla. I would worry about the longevity of aluminum vent ducting after being used hard on track for awhile.......how is it holding up for you? |
