Porsche Victory by Design

Does anyone here have this DVD? I ordered one, I really have enjoyed all of the episodes on Speed, after waiting almost a month I got mine last night....Got the kids in bed, wife was out at an evening function, poured a glass of wine, excited was I....

We have a new awesome TV, great surround sound set-up etc....Porsche porn at its best....

The content of the DVD is very interesting, the old race footage very cool, the quality however of the picture and sound is just terrible, I felt like I was watching a DVD-R copy of the show from broadcast....did I get a bum copy or is it just not a well produced DVD? Anyone else have this problem? I kept adjustting the picture and sound thinking it was my problem, I just could never get it to look right...

Our TV is totally fine, watch HD, DVDs etc with no problem so I know it is not that....Anyone else have this? should I send it back or is what it is?
Adam

My first copy was also really bad. Just call them, they'll send another one out.

I would bet that they only have the old VHS tape to author it from. How do you like the bit where Brian Redmond drives into the italian town at one hundred billion miles per hour. The camera always makes everything look slower then it is and that makes the clip even more jaw dropping.

I really wish they would get In Car 956 onto DVD. It would be a instant repurchase for me.

I don't think the Porsche DVD is as good as the Ferrari, Jag, Aston, etc. The other vids have a lot more cars being driven and described. The Porsche vid has a lot more archive footage but fewer cars being driven.

The inherent quality of Porsche BVD is the worst of all the VBD!

I believe PVBD was the first VBD made - the others are of MUCH higher quality in both picture and sound - as well as Alain drives the cars more often in subsequent VBDs. The Porsche one is definitely the worst of them all -

That was my complaint also -

The Porsche version was made before the series. It looks like they decided to do it right (with surround sound and high quality test drives) after the Porsche version. To fix the Porsche copy for DVD, they only added a couple of new clips. Very disappointing. The sound and video quality is poor in comparsion to the others. (IMHO)

My wife bought me the Alfa DVD. It is incredible.

I wish they would do the Porsche version over, and do it like the others.

Yup-

I was talking to Alain about it last January (like the name dropping?) and he said the Porsche one was over 10 years old. It's only the newer ones that adopted the cimema-style production values that everyone loves.

I don't remember him saying anything about going back to do Porsche again.
