will work fine a 915 trans with a 1970 2.2 E engine,on a 1969 911 body?

Sorry, I´m a mess.

I think that you will need the proper (72 onward) clutch/flywheel that mate to the 915, then you will be okay.
Good luck..;-)

Yes, it will work. As Bill mentioned you will need a 915 clutch.

You will also need:

915 clutch cable
915 shifter housing
915 shifter rod
possible electronic speedo depending on the year
you may have to clearance the tunnel to fit the 915. The mounting ears on the nosecone will hit the tunnel. You will have to bump them out with a hammer.
You may also have to relocate a fuel line and an charcoal canister hose depending on how they cross the tranny.

Best of luck on your conversion.
Be aware that a later 915 may make the car feel sluggish. It will be geared taller than an early (pre74) 915. This is good for highway cruising but bad for acceleration and twisty roads.

Jamie is correct, of course...;-)

You are converting from a Sporto, right? Try to obtain all the matching transmission components as a kit from one car as much as possible. You also need the proper pedal box to add the clutch, right? And there are some Sporto oil line fittings on your oil tank that will need to be plugged securely...

Didn't catch the sporto. thanks Bill.

I thought of one more thing. You will ahve to also have the correct CV joints that bolt to the output flanges of the 915. This could either be a 6 bolt design or a 4bolt/2pin design depending on the year.

You should be able to mount the CV joints on the existing half shafts by pulling the retaining ring. I think its only 68-earlier that would need new stub axles too. this would be a good time to upgrade to the alumuminum trailing arms. Of course, this means shocks and other items too!

I have a 2.2T in a 71 body with a 915. When I got the car the PO had been running a 2.7. I put in the 2.2 cos I had it from another rebuild. So I know it works. Or rather it fits. The speedo is electronic. If you need any info I can take a look at the car. In terms of performance, goes like stink on the highway. Takes forever to get there though.

Thanks guys! this board is like an open book!
I am still thinking about convert my sporto to manual. Now I have a sporto trans (with the body) and a nice 2.2 E MFI engine (not Sporto) waiting to run....
A 911(901) gearbox with matching transaxles and linkages will make the work easiest...I guess.
