help. engine wont turn over after clutch job: this is a repost with new evidence... so basically i replaced the clutch and after putting the engine back in it wont turn over. i pull it back an inch and i can turn it easy with a wrench. i took off the starter when the engine was all the way up and stuck. looks like the pressure plate was jammed into the tranny housing. i was wondering if anyone has similar symptoms. i am still not sure what's wrong. i just pulled the engine out again and will take off the pressure plate tomorrow. what should be the distance between the flywheel and the engine? i am guessing i got the flywheel washer wrong, but i have to take off the pressure plate to see. please help. thanks. PS. i promised some people pics of "european racing headers". i'll try to have those up tomorrow. |

I'd check to make sure the clutch disc and throwout bearing and facing the correct direction. I once bought an Austin Healey where the PO had put the clutch disk in backwards. It caused a different problem, but somthing is keeping your pressure plate from seating into the correct position |

the flywheel "washer" needs to be under the bolt heads, not between crank and flywheel. it's been done here before. |
