fiberglass '69-'73 front light buckets

Allright guys, I need your input on this one.
I've finished the first set of molds and here is the first set of buckets.
As of right now they're gloss white finish. Here are shots of the front and back. I can provide them with bulb sockets, bulbs, wired, and metal threaded inserts for screw holes.

Questions:
1. Would you guys be interested in a kit version, where I supply all the parts, but you put them together(drill holes for lights, grind flange to consistent thickness and install threaded inserts). Some of you are very handy and this would not be difficult to do.
2. How much would chrome be worth?
3. Is there anything else you would do?
Bonus question: Do you know the motor in the background?
That's the reason why parts are coming a little slower.

1) A kit would be great.
2) If it adds more than $50 a pair - I'll just spray'em silver.
3) LED's? And stock rears (rather than R type) to match?

4) Triumph?

Great kit. How much do they weigh? I need these tomorrow - thanks for making them.

They look great.

How much would it add to chrome the plastic? That would be nice if not too many $$.

I'm not sure LEDs will save much wt. ...

Hmmm Su's and an inline 4....

I would be more interested in rear versions with large, bright banks of 11000 milliCandella LEDs. I always get nervous in traffic whether that SUV can see my tail lights down low

The front are not that heavy. But, If I was going to backdate a car, I would be very interested in this.

I would be more interested in rear versions that had stock lens and even had the regular bulbs - just so they are light wt.! Extra output would be nice, but for me the wt. savings is the primary item.

yes, Randy they have got to be less weight than those boat anchors of stock lights. I personally like the R style rear lights but don't want them on my car. I would love a weight saving version.

I'd be interested in the kit version. sprayng reflective silver seems a reasonable approach. That's what I'd do. If chrome only adds $40 to $50 then chroming may be appropriate.
I'll be searching for some of these boxes (have been actually). Please include me in the list of interested parties.
Will you offer the wiring harness, too? OR at least the sockets for the bulbs to fit? OR do you know a supplier?
Thanks,

Doug

I believe that is a Datsun Z car motor. 69-83 (probably early). How about a 280Z long block retrofitted with SUs? What do I win?

Thanks guys.
I'll be doing rears too, but they are more difficult, the light splitters will have to be attached after they're made and finding the right bulb holder that will hold up to the abuse of the road debris and having a cover over them.
I'm going to get pricing on vacuum metalizing. If it's to much I won't do it.
I will offer them all wired with bulbs and the molex connector, ready to install or the kit, for the DIY guy.
If you guys want to start a interest list, let Dave at TRE know, he's better at keeping names and numbers.I just like making things.

You are right Elombard. It's my '71 240z. In the last stages of the chassis restoration, trying to get it ready for the West Coast Nationals at Motorsport Auto in april. Sorry no prize, but I see you owned a Datsun before. 510's are a blast to drive.

think about getting some aluminized foil or mylar and just shrinking it in there somehow...

It's great to hear the rears are underway...

i was recently trying to resolve my rear taillight box rust issues. maybe this is a solution. think your 69/later rear boxes could be modified for a 68/earlier car? how do you attatch to the quarters?

The later rear boxes could be modified to fit the swb cars, BUT you will also have to a) cut out the original boxes that 68 and older have b) fabricate mounting tabs to support the replacements c) purchase a pair of later lenses . Unless you are trying to update your early car to make it look like a newer one, it would be far easier to find a nice pair of used early assemblies. reproduciton lenses are available for them.

I'd like to be added to the list of people interested. I'm interested in both front and rear light buckets.

Thanks,
