European Rear Bumper Gards change over?

What is required to convert the big rear USA Bumper Gards to the european style on a 3.2 Carrera? Is the following what is needed" 911-505-341-00-M136 Rear Bumper Guard, left, USA (1974), European, 911 (1974-83) $185.25 911-505-342-00-M136 Rear Bumper Guard, right, USA (1974), European, 911 (1974-83) Brand: OEM Any holes that need filling? Do we just use the lic lights off the USA's? Thx

On my '86 I was going to remove the bumpers and install two Hella tag lights like the ones shown below to be legal. I'll post the part numbers and prices tomorrow. It appears there are holes to fill and then drill.

Wrong photo, I'll find it and post it. It's a clean look, just two black plastic tag lights.

You have holes to fill, you have holes to drill, you may use the stock US tag lights. JR

I'm going through this mental dilemma myself right now - pretty much determined that both filling and drilling ARE required. Fair warning too - different Euro bumper guards for '74-'84 and '85-'89. I sure do like the LOOK and lighter weight of the Euros - if I can find a set for my '88, I'll probably do it! (Anyone - anyone?) Which begs the question - has anyone else done this; if so, were they able to fill & drill without removing the rear bumper? I'm guessing "no", since properly "filling" would involve the requisite metal "glue gun", aka welder...

I picked up a 74/euro rear bumper for my conversion. It is still off the car without the bumperettes mounted if you need any pictures or measurements of where the holes are located. Frank

I think Buckterrier has one of the better "bumperette delete" setups on a Carrera.

Yes, I have though of a delete of the bumperette all togeather with the IROC lic lights. Sounds like the bumperetts offered by out hose are not what is needed for my 85. Thanks guys. | ||

I did some resarch on this a while back and I believe that you need the euro bumperettes from the turbo bumper to make this work. The difference from what I recall is that the angle of the valance.

There is also a more 83-89 look Hella 3389 Series in black and a little bigger and more angular 003389061-95185 (need 2) and 12V 10W bulb H83035101-78235 These are only about $20-$25 ead + bulb. I am ordering 4 to see if a pair works.

I work at a BMW Motorcycle dealer and am ordering them. Our US distributor has a minimum order because they are not stocked in the US and it's going on our next stock order from them. I'll keep you posted but an Hella guy should be able to get them in 14-21 days.
