Lowering my SC
Want to lower the front suspension on my SC can anyone give me details on how to do it. The "101 project" book description is a little vague for me.
Thanks all. Last edited by nexium; 02-21-2005 at 01:04 AM.. |

The lowering bolt (one on each side) is 11 mm. Turn that bolt the same amount on both sides. Lefty Loosie lowers.

Get the weight off the wheels before before turning the adjusters.
In general, it is not wise to lower the front only. You need to maintain proper rake, front to rear. It is best to corner weight the car after adjusting. But if you are making a very small adjustment, you can carefully turn each the same amount without a significant impact on balance.

Be prepared to spend some time on this to do it right. I got my car into a very unstable balance by lowering incorrectly. Do some searches on the "tripod method". I found it to be very valuable in adjusting height without screwing up the balance of the car.

1 turn is about a 1/4" ride height change. As Chuck said....less stress on the machinery if you do it unloaded...

Spray some oil on the 11mm bolts before you turn them evenly. How high is it now and how low do you want to go? 25 inches from the fender lip to the floor is good. And you do need to install the "bump-steer-kit", meaning spacers under the rack. Lowering changes alignment, especially camber, and is usually done on all four wheels to get good handling.
