Targa skin options (colors)

Has anyone covered a Targa top in anything other than black?

Any pics?

Jerry (JMPRO) from JM PRODUCT DESIGN designed and sold a few of the FG targa tops. He's since sold interest to the fabricator. I think Pelican carries these, not 100% sure.

The "factory" finish is a gloss black gelcoat.

Here's a pic of TargaWatcher's body color painted top:

There was once upon a time a tinted/smoked acrylic/plexiglas top by someone.

Yeah, I know about the Saratoga top. I have a silver Targa and was think about a yellowy, natural leather color looking vinyl top.

I bought some navy blue and brown polyurethane-coated Cordura nylon once, and considered tan or light brown leather for covering my two factory tops ... but never got around to those projects. It is currently wearing my 1980-vintage Saratoga top ... and the two factory tops still need to be recovered!

Warren, is it possible to show a picture of the saratoga top? I've been wondering what exactly one looks like for the last year.

Here's a shot of mine when it had a red top. Hated the looks so I had it recovered. Black looks so much better.

Warren,
Do you mean Polyurethane backed Cordura? (or polyester clone) I've done a bit of work with each when designing SUV cargo liners. The experience leads me to believe that these materials are not very UV resistant.

If anyone stumbles across a Kevlar/Carbon Fiber top, please post a link.

Can you picture a carbon fiber hood, CF roof, and a CF ducktail on a Targa? That might be a nice look if all the weave size/color matched from the same supplier. Might have to paint out/black out those little areas above the hood and back lid.

The company that now makes my fg hard top, will for a price make the hardtop out of c/f i think. They make many other c/f parts so this is not new to them. Ask your frienly Pelican rep or try to get hold of Wayne to see if this can be done. When i first started the hard top project my intention was to offer a c/f option but the fabrication cost was going to be double, not because of the material cost but because the additional labor cost and the loss do to the fact that c/f layup for cosmetic purposes is very hard to do and they wind up with 10% of the parts that have flaws in them. In addition most c/f you see that is exposed for bling is clear coated after the mold process so that drives the price up.

I've got one that came with my 73S...it is done in a Martini Rossi type of motif (sp?) and is a water resistant fabric.

Kinda strange that they say "3 available" and then "any color" in the same breath.

But my favorite part is...."VYNAL"
