Carrera Key Question
I have only one set of 3 keys (iginition, oem alarm & lug lock) and would like to get a duplicate for each. Question, if I go to a local locksmith would he have the blanks for these three keys? Or would I have to order the blanks from porsche and take them to the locksmith?
Thanks. |
When I had extra keys made I ordered them through Porsche and had Porsche cut the key as well. I do not think a locksmith will have the blanks

locksmith have some blanks w/o rubber logo just a silver key I think their are for a early VW if you want a new set why not order the blanks for ours host.
a better idea why not relock the door and ignition key with a single combination. |
I finally had an extra set of keys made this past weekend. I ordered the light Porsche key from our host and the locksmith had the blanks for the oem alarm and the wheel lock. Total cost aboth $37; $31 for the porsche key, $6 for the key blanks and labor.

Try a locksmith. I bought a blank from my dealer, but they can't cut them. The locksmith down the road not only was able to cut it, but he had the blanks in stock. This is for the ignition key.

Some locksmiths will not cut the OEM key as it is made out of steel as opposed to the brass used in most keys. So you may want to check before ordering the expensive OEM key. I just went with a generic brass aftermarket key that cost me all of $3.00.
