Wheel fitment question
Will the 17" Cup wheels from a 1996 Carerra C2 (not S)
fit on an '84 911? If so, are there any spacers needed? Thanks Chris |
Bill Verburg can help more here...but I'm quite certain that the later wheels have a bunch more offset....like 55-65mm, vs the 15-23mm used for the 84.
So spacers can be used to locate the wheels further outboard ( properly), but then you'd need either longer studs ( more desirable) or the spacers that stagger the 5 bolt pattern, and you now end up with 10 bolts / wheel....not so nice, but do-able ( not recommeded for track work with 10 bolts/wheel). I would much rather use longer studs......Even though this car will never see the track, it just makes more sense....I have not bought the wheels yet as I am in price discussion with the owner now and wanted to make sure....
Thanks Chris |
But.....changing stud length is relatively easy for the front.... a PITA for the back ( meaning? Costly if you don't do it yourself....factor that into your budget and whether it's worth it compared to other wheels).

After 63 cars, there isn't much I dont do myself (much to my wife's chagrin) except oil changes...can never seem to get rid of the old stuff in a timely fashion.....
