What hoses are these ?

In the pic below, I'd like to know what these 2 silver hoses are for, what they are called, and why do most others have rubber type hoses, instead of these aluminum tin foil type hoses.

I want to place them, because of age, and they look like crap, but I need to know what they are, so I order the correct ones, and or order ones that are better quality. Ive already replaced the blower hose, and hot air socket, so why stop there Thanks.

Both of those hoses connect the air coming from the engine to the heat exchangers via a blower fan.

The left hose connects to the left heat exchanger. The hose on top of the cooling fan connects to the right heat exchanger. And the black thingy to which they both attach at the top left of the picture is the blower fan that forces the air through both tubes, thus forcing this air through the heat exchangers and into your cabin.

Without this blower fan (not the large vertical one which cools the engine) there would be no heat when you're sitting idling. Porsche added that blower fan to avoid your getting cold while waiting foer the red light to change.

Even if the heater blower does not work, you still want those hoses in place. Many people have eliminated the whole set up by doing a "heater back-date". Try a search, it's well worth it.

I plan on keeping the whole set up. I read some of those threads you ask me too, and I agree on replacing all the hoses with new.Ordered them all a little while ago thru Pelican. Thursday they will be here, and on the car. Thanks.
