Question tired of the dark..

hi guys,
my interior lights over the doors work fine in 'middle position'..when i open the doors they light brightly as they should. problem is, when i select them on by pressing the switch, say when i'm driving at night, they only dimly illuminate..what's the deal here? any ideas? something switch-related i'm guessing?
thanks,
ryan

Any ideas for replacing a Porsche Reflector

Since I accidentally broke my Porsche reflector (black lettering boo hoo) in half by accident, I have decided to maybe do something else in the back. Maybe make a piece out of sheet metal that I could bolt into the same space and then paint to match car.

Any ideas, pictures, suggestions..

Thanks,

David

The differential brightness has to mean extra resistance - bad gnd - leakage - etc. in the other circuit.

Rip it apart and inspect.

Ryan, what Randy said.

Argeo, a body colored bit would look good.

maybe try pulling the housing and clean the housing ground clip and the tub area where it clips into. Pay attention to the direction that the housing is mounted.

hi guys,
back when i remember this problem appearing, i did all the due diligence on cleaning the grounds, wire contacts and all..it does light brightly when the door is opened with the switch in the middle position..when i select the 'on' position it turns on, but dimly. still sound like resistance somewhere?

If all else is the same, ie car or any accessories on or off, than is has to be electrical resistance. When the switch is in the middle position the bulb gets ground from the door pin switch. When you manually turn them on you are choosing a direct ground wire to the chassis. Basically switching from one ground wire to another.
