3.0 engine interchange Will an 83 3.0 engine work or run well with a 78 computer? I know that the 83 has things like Oxygen sensors and other stuff that 78's do not. |

as far as i know the 78 does not have a computer, at least the 78 engine that my dad has doesnt have one. only electronics hooked up to the motor aside from the regular wiring is the msd box. |

If you get a 3.0 from "83, then also get the Lambda brain situated under the passenger seat. That is, if you intend to run CIS and not convert to carbs. The '83 is the last year of SC 3.0 liters; a great engine. SmileWavy |

then how is the Fuel injection system controlled on the 78-79 motors? |
|
It is a continuous injection...all cylinders get the same amount of fuel |

All SC's '78-'83 have Bosch CIS (Continous Injection System) '80-'83 have an Ox sensor, Frequency Valve, brain etc. To understand the system, get a Bentley manual, and/or a Bosch K-jetronic manual. It is too complicated to explain here. Cheers. |
