? door hinge pin bushing
I need to replace my door pin bushings. I have part number 911 531 311 20, which appears to be the only bushing available. The bushings have a flange on them. Looking at the bushed part of the door, the hinge section attached to the door itself, I cannot see how the flange will fit. It looks like it should have a straight cylindrical bushing without any flanges.
Has anyone been there or done this? If so please help me out. Right now I'm thinking of getting plain bronze bushings, closest in size and machining them to fit. Thanks, Ed

Not sure if I understand your question. The flanges should fit fine once you drive the old ones out. 911s came from the factory with the flanged bushings. You will have to machine the inner diameter before installing or the pins will not fit.

Flintstone is right. Your bushings go in the hinges in the direction the pins come out. Namely the top goes in toward the top & the bottom one goes in toward the bottom. You'll probably have to have the bushings reemed out to 8mm ID to fit the pins. You will also probably have to file the insides of the hinges (on the car) to fit the new bushings. When you try to put the door into the hinges after the new bushings are installed, you'll know.

Thanks guys, I figured it out. My hinges had alot of paint on them, the flanges were burried and looked like they were part of the hinge. The new bushings are now installed and reamed to size. There is no play in the hinges now.
