grrr...broken head studs?
I'd been having rough running issues for most of last year. I thought I was running too lean. My mechanic had mentioned that the problem could be related to broken head studs
Now on the 1st day of the season I was out driving around and I can hear the subtle sound of a kind of buzz-tapping sound that seems a bit like a card in bicycle spokes. I've left the car at my mechanics.... Oh well, at least its the beginning of the season and I can hopefully get the problem solved for the summer. So I don't get fleeced, how many labour hours does each side take?

If you are mechanically inclined and have the tools at your home, go for it and DIY. At times, a shop will want to rebuild the entire engine if it is headstuds. A full rebuild is $6-8k. Top end alone is $3-4k. good luck

I recently took out my engine and reseealed it. Its not very hard tyo do. I did it all solo. Once the engine is out it comes appart pretty easily. Take your time and look on the board for any speed bumps alnog the way.
Cheers James

if you're worried about getting fleeced, you took it to the wrong mechanic.
