AAR or WUR or both??

I have been having a lot of trouble with cold starts and hot starts lately, which makes it a double PITA. anyways, i'm starting the diagnosis, and there is something i cant figure out from old posts...i have a 1979 3.0 911sc, so does that mean i have an AAR and a WUR? what is the difference between the two? my mechanic told me its probably the AAR so i'll most likely start there, and i have a new fuel accumulator coming for the hot starts, but for the cold starts, i cant seem to figure out where the WUR is or if i'm looking for something that isnt there.

just for info, my current problem is this, my car cranks and cranks but wont turn when its been sitting a while, i leave the key on for a minute or so and try again, after cranking a while again, it finally sputters to life and idles low and very rough for a while, if i touch the gas, it backfires, i have to let it warm up for a few minutes and then it starts to sort of idle normal, i usally have to drive it around and it will run normal.

"His mechanics point of view..."When he bought this car it has been sitting for quite some time, when i had the engine out, the egr tube was all gumbed up. Also the tube had a hole in it. After fixing all that,i looked into the aar 2 diff times and noticed the settings were diff both times. I did let him know it can be adjusted, just let me know when. I told him his fuel presures need to be checked, volume and pressures. From there we can see if the pump holds enough pressure, etc, etc, etc. ------> But only got auth. to do the exaust gaskets, and repair the egr tube.....

FYI,im very familiar cis......

Was this problem ever solved? Was the WUR faulty?

Is it backfiring through the intake or exhaust? Backfiring through intake mixture to lean. Through exhaust to rich.

Sounds like you are in good hands, here is a link I found very useful in understanding the CSI system.

I'm having the exact same problem with hot starts! Has anyone found the problem yet? My car cranks and cranks and finally turns over after some effort (this is after the car has sat for about 2 hours in hot weather).

Thanks!

you couldnt know till you throw gauges on it. we found out that the accumulater was not holding pressure, and he replaced it, and got a little better...
