Alternator with high output ignitor problems
65 356 C with a six cylinder 911 motor question....
I have always known that my internally regulated alternator was not getting a charge...the D+ was not connected to the charge circuit....NOW when hooked up to the dash bulb, it charges at 14+ volts and the light goes off after the engine fires and idles steadies at 900 rpms...it will flicker if I lower the idle....so that part works. But when the ignition switch is turned off, the engine keeps running. Disconnect the charge bulb circuit it shuts off when the key switch is turned to off........I don't have power when the ignition is turned off at the lead coming from the ignition switch.....otherwise the bulb would always be lit.... Do I need some kind of resister inline to discharge the exciter circuit? BTW...it's a Crane fireball ignition system...any ideas besides shooting me for putting a six in it? %^B
