AC upgrade-update-still need help

Well after last weeks setback of a leaking underbelly condensor I removed the condensor and found a local radiator shop that brazed it.I installed the condensor yesterday, pulled a vacuum and had another leak.I eventually traced the leak to the flare fitting on the suction side of the expansion valve, installed a copper sealing washer and pulled a vacuum again and voila no leaks!!!! I pulled a vacuum for 1 hour, turned off the pump and the needle held rock steady for a 1/2 hour, great I thought. Now I grabbed one of the cans of HC12A along with the can tap and hose assy that came with it,hooked it up to my charging manifold, opened everything up and no gas going into the compressor!!! Now what? I fooled around with that can tap setup for an hour and can't get any gas to come out of it,can I have a defective setup? The handle feels real heavy as you operate it to pierce the can, almost like the o-ring or gasket is bunched up.I even removed the screw on hose that goes to the valve, inverted the can and opened the valve and nothing, but if I unscrew the unit from the can as if I was going to change cans the gas starts coming out,any ideas guys??Anyone in Central Florida have a R12 can tap I can use?

This is your lucky day! I just went out to my shop and found a filler hose/tap for use with R12. If you will send me your address, I will put in in the mail to you on Monday. The best part is, you can keep it! I have converted my SC over to 134a. Merry Christmas!

Thanks Fred but I may have fixed it.I took the can tap off the bottle(lost 1 can) and tried blowing thru it and nothing came out and this was with the shut off in the open position.I then did the same thing with a R134A shut off I have and air goes thru.......hmmmmmmm.So I took the valve apart and it has this nylon seal at the end of it that should have had a hole molded into it but there was none,I took a small drill bit and drilled it out,put it back together and I have airflow now. It's raining like crazy now but hopefully it will let up and I can pull a vacuum a little bit longer and then try charging this bad boy.Stay tuned.
