Paint Experts

I am thinking of buying a fiberglass hardtop from widebody911 but I don't want to paint the entire car- my painter says he can match the paint so close you can't tell the difference between the existing paint and the new paint on the top... I find this hard to believe what do you guys think? Here is my car- L661 Metallic Blue

When my wee wifey ripped off the front of our Audi by driving backwards from the concrete wheel stop, we took our car to the local Porsche painter, and he matched the Mica Volcano Black perfectly - even to the tiny green metal flakes that show up only in bright sunlight.

We were flabergasted!!! It is amazing what modern paints (and painters) can do nowadays!!!

Modern paints don't have that much of a tendency to fade, so often a very good match can be had from merely the provision of the original paint code to the supplier.

Mixing, even without a number, is also no longer a hit or miss afair, and you'll probably find the new paint to be spot-on.

where do you get the original paint codes?
For example I have a 1988 Guards Red.... we are about to do a widebody conversion... How do I get the "right" paint?

Matteo, in your trunk there should be a paint code sticker affixed to the inside of the right fender, which you can see if you lift up the carpet.

When I had my headlight bezel painted, the body shop used a method (laser, I believe) from the fuel filler door. It matched perfectly to the rest of the car.
