after clutch job, engine starts, backfires, stalls

Basically, that's it. It starts for 1-2 seconds, backfires via the pop-off valve and stalls.

The egr is not well connected, but it was like that before i had the engine out.

I did not touch the distributor or spark plugs/wires.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Checked the ground wire between body and engine/gearbox ? Might also be dirt in the fuel lines that came loose when you worked on the fuel lines.

I am not sure about the groud wire. Where would it be?

I think I connected all the wires correctly and the fuel lines were clean.

Should be at the forward end of the gearbox near the gearbox mounts.

Hmmm,

I never had the tranny (915) out. The backup light switch could be plugged in backwards, but other than that I did not disconnect anything back there.
