Seat back brace

Hi all I need to fab a seat back brace. I have some ideas about
how to do it and have it PCA club race legal but I was hoping to see some others also. So any pictures or links to pictures
would be great. Thanks Palmer

Palmer, I'm also interested in seeing these. You may want to post this or a link to this in the Racing and Autocross Forum.

Hi Palmer,

This is completely off topic, but did you get my two PMs to you? My "tracking" shows that you did not open them. Thanks!

The one on my car is from Autopower but it is basically two clamp on collars (available from McMasterCarr etc) welded together, a piece of tube attached to a piece of flatstock. Doesn't get much easier. But it is another one of those make it myself and save a few bucks or just buy it and be done with it situations. If you've got the time it would be pretty simple to make one.

FYI from one of my earlier posts:
Quote:
That brings me to the seat back brace. This requires a roll bar for installation. The brace will stop the driver from moving backwards in case of a rearward collision. Unfortunately we all learned of this problem when a driver spun and backed into the concrete pit wall. The only thing stopping you from moving backwards in the car is the seatback. The force of the impact coupled with the weight of the driver and no seatback support broke the seatback and he went backwards under his roll bar into the rear seat area fatally breaking his neck in the process. When this story got around and everyone I know ran out and bought a seatback brace immediately.
