exhaust/zork tube for 930

I think instead of a muffler I will put on a fabspeed zork tube. Does anyone have one will it harm my motor or turbo? Is it loud, they say not very loud but lot's of turbo hissing and whining sounds good to me !

Loud is an opinion thing.
I don't know what a "zork tube" is but I have a dump tube that I ran for about 60 seconds. It is terribly loud. They also add no HP over a properly designed free flowing muffler.

I noticed more power and faster spool time...

I built one for my car. I noticed more power but the noise was too much during cruise. It sounded like a loud taxiing airplane around town.

Here's the pic off of Fabspeed's site. This was discussed over on the 911turbo board recently. I know they have a sound clip on the site, but its hard to judge sound by computer speakers. I may get one or make my own just for fun.

So is a zork tube just a pipe coming out of the turbo?

Zork Tube??????
I guess you can call it anything you want.
Known around these parts as "strait exhaust"
or "Zoomies".
Not much louder than a B&B muffler.
A little less noise with Twin Turbo's.
Rarly- I'm with ZLP, you will get faster spool up
and more power on shifts. "That sold me!!"
I've ran them on all three turbos I've owned.
Here's a pic of the custom job done by the fab.
guy at Norwoods on my TT.

I wish you twin turbo guys would stop posting these pictures, it's demoralizing to the rest of us

I'm planning to run a straight pipe on my 930, but I can't decide whether I'm going to buy a Zork tube or build a pipe that exits on the right with stainless tubing from www.Burnsstainless.com

Steven,

I'd be really interested in knowing how much louder it is...
Please tell us once you have a chance to try that.

thanks...

The important phrase is "properly designed free flowing exhaust".
You really should not see any increase in power by simply eliminating the exhaust if your muffler is designed for a turbo.

You may THINK you have more 'cause it sounds cooler. The turbo sound is awsome! Unfortunately the sound wears on you in short order.

I found that my straight pipe (3 inch mandrel bent 90 degree elbow with 8 inches of straight pipe) netted 12 horsepower (430 vs. 418RWHP) on a chassis dyno, over another system I fabricated that consisted of a 3 inch straight thru core bullet "muffler" that came straight off the turbo and exited on the right side.

Very loud, and NO lag.

Turbos do not like backpressure.

Your results may vary.....

Not much louder then BB?. I have Bolra dual out. People say they can hear me before i get there, but I don't think it's loud. And it's a cab. I like to know what it sound like? I hear that the turbo will cut down on lot of the noise???

Zach, I need those Turbo sway bars I paid for last December. Please ship them out to me. It's been too long.
