Is this the right color?
I found this pic of a fellow Pelican forum user who says it's a 73 911 in Bahia Red. Is this picture hued on the orange side or is Bahia Red really this color? It almost looks like Indian Red or the first Guards Red 1 which was orangie. I have a 71 911S that is Bahia Red but slightly faded that is almost ready for paint. I took the torsion cover off that had been covered by the rocker deco and fog light cover which was still good and unfaded and both look to be closer to a darker Guards Red 2, or a red red if you can understand what I'm saying. Anyone with a good eye? I was going to take the covers to get them matched since the formulas for Bahia Red had long been lost by my local automotive paint suppliers. Thanks Allan

IMO - One thing to consider is what the light conditions are when the picture is taken. My Guards red looks completely different in direct sun than it does in shade. Also consider the digital picture itself. A lot of cheaper cameras cannot take pictures in its true color saturation and hue so it’s real hard to tell sometimes AND you also have to take into account your PC’s monitor’s ability to reproduce proper colors. Unless that driveway is really pink/red I would question the picture itself.

it depends on the processing used and the lighting
my 73 Bahia red in sun with Eckerts processing ![]() and processing by Kodak in the shade ![]() note: Kodak did not screw-up the focus, that was me, and paint is original except hood and tail Bill K

Well, that's my 72 and the lighting at the time caused the paint to show more of an orange hue. Much like Bill K's 73, it looks a lot different in the shade.
The car was repainted, but was originally Bahia Red. When I replaced the Oil sticker on the inside of the oil door, which had been painted over, the repaint was very close, maybe a little lighter, than the original paint underneath. And yes, the driveway is red stone. And no, it's not a cheap camera. ![]()
