Spark plug boot comes off of plug. How can I fix this? Replaced Beur wires but still have problem. The only thing I can think caused this is that I replaced the wires with Fyrebraid wires, but did not replace the plugs until later. I expected the new plugs to solve this problem but still does it sometimes. I have tried different orientations and one (middle right) is still prone to come loose. It is frustrating having to open the hood and push it back in (especially with whitre shirt ). Certainly racers have experienced this problem of a wire coming loose.

Is there a fix. I tried using a needlenose pliers on the boot but that did not work or I did not try hard enough.

When you re-seat the boot, does it "click" onto the plug?

What are the connectors you are using? Do the wires have the cylinder number on them? In your case it would have a "5" on the wire itself.

I'm curious as to what plugs you are running? If the ends don't "click" on when you push them on the plug I had a similar problem - but oddly enough, only with Bosch plugs.

One solution is to pull the plug and unscrew the metal conductor at the top of the plug being careful not to crack the plug. Find a small, thin washer that just fits over the threaded stub of the plug (#6 or #8 in size maybe) and screw the conductor back on and try your plug wire. If it "clicks" on, problem solved.
