Am I paying too much for insurance?

Well, after we got done with the Muholland run today, the topic of inssurance came up. I heard prices thrown around in the conversation and I was thinking, wow I think I pay way too much. So heres my deal. I currently have state farm, I am 19, the car is my daily driver, and I've had only one fender bender on record. Well anyway this somehow adds up to $315 A MONTH!!! Am I being jipped? Are there any cheaper places that I should look into?

Wow! That is super cheap compared to mine. I just figured out my annual payment of insurance....$3780!!!!! Ok if what you say is true, man what a savings. Hey, even if I get this "classic" category and it comes out to be more than $500, like 6 or $700, so what, that would take A LOT of weight off my shoulders. So I guess I'll call up state farm and see what happens. If anyone has anything cheaper please ring in. Wayne, I overheard you saying that you only pay $400 for both your cars,(ferrari and porsche).

beau,

i have state farm and i will be 25 in a couple weeks.....the SC is my daily driver and only car and I pay around $110/month. I consider this pretty damn good for a young guy with no other cars, or a house, or anything for that matter! I used to have a Volvo 850 as well and payed around $1000/ 6 months for both.
I would recomend my agent to you....they are near the 10/405 intersection at national and sepulveda. Give them a call....

Sean Brown - State Farm 310-479-0080

oh yeah...i also have a clean record (knock on wood) with no accidents or anything......i can pretty much garuntee you will get a better quote from my comany. lemme know what happens.

-jeff

ALSO

keep in mind I have 2 other cars insured with state farm, also my house, life insurance, and a policy holder since I was 16. thus SF ideal customer. Age is the factor, when you become an old fart, you do get breaks

It's your age, couple with the fact that you are driving a porsche.

Don't let them tell you that you could save a ton of money by getting married. The only time you save money from getting married is when your new wife tell you to get rid of the toys.

I have State Farm insurance on my '84 Carrera Targa. It is their Classic Auto Policy and I pay $305/year. Only restriction is no commuting and no business. I have all my other cars with State Farm and I am over 50.

Back in 1988 Before I gave up insurance and went to Law Enforcement I was working at a Farmers Insurance office in Vista, CA. Just to see how high rates could go I entered data into the computor as follows: 1988 Porsche top of the line turbo etc.,
16 yr old male, 3 tickets, 1 accident, full coverage, low or zero deductables. When the computor finally tried to spit out a number
I thought I broke the machine as it would not register any number over $100,000 for a six month period! I raised the deductables and finally got a number in the high $80,000 area.
That was good for a laugh at the time!! Now after trading in my 2001 Jeep Wrangler for the 81 SC my payments went down $8 a month to $73. This includes the parts hauler of a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I am 47 and drive to work 5 miles away (sometimes more if I take the long way).
Being 19 with a fender bender for $3700 a year does not seem to bad. I am with Unitrin which is an Internet only I think.
No tickets/no accidents.

I also have my SC insured under the State Farm Classic policy and pay $400 a year. There is full fire/theft and collision, no mileage limitations, there is agreed upon replacement value ($15k) and no line of sight limitations. The only problem I see you having as a daily driver is my agent required I sign a form stating the vehicle is used 90% of the time for "club events" such a concours and parades and the other 10% as a secondary vehicle for "sunday drives". I dont know how they will prove otherwise if something happens so I signed anyway. I have had this policy for 4 years without a word from State Farm. They just asked me for a mileage update this week. First time they have asked. I couldn't tell you how your age will make any difference. I got the policy when I was 35. The car was under regular full insurance when I heard about this "classic policy". My bill went from $1200/yr to $400/yr. Some things get better with age. Not much, but some.

Age, location and record.
Someone in the next county can pay half as much as you. Can't hurt to call around for some estimates or use some of the quote generators on the Ins cos web sites.
