Fuel Pump doesn't shut off

Hello all,

I'm posting this question for a friend of mine who is too stubborn to ask for help before trying to solve the problem himself.

...and yes, I went to the 964/993/996 forum but after the third tumbleweed past by I decided this problem would be better solved here...

Car is a '90 C2. When the ignition is turned off it appears as though the fuel pump is continuing to run. He tried starting the car and shutting it off a couple of times to no avial.

Thoughts? FWIW, the car is very low on gas at the moment.

We need to solve this problem or there will be one less Pelicanite at the Elephant Racing Suspension Clinic this Saturday at Redmond European.

Check the fuel pump relay. Sometimes it helps to take it out, give it a gentle knock and put it back in again. However with the ignition switched off the pump should not be running anyway. You migth also check the ignition lock/switch and look for any modifications to the electrical system (car alarm...) that might cause a problem.

Alas, the problem has vanished over the period of a workday.

Truthfully...we all know it'll be back soon enough.

I've advised selling the '90 and getting into something more simple...like an '87.
